Creating a Basic Framework for New PowerBuilder Development Teams

As a mentor of new PowerBuilder development teams within Prudential, I developed a simple development framework to use which provides basic functionality for business applications, but is not as complex as the PFC.

This presentation explains the steps used to incorporate the framework into the team's first project, and what elements are included in the framework.

(1) Assessing teams level of knowledge.
(2) Using PFC vs. developing your own object library.
(3) Standards which need to be established.
(4) Prototyping - should the framework be used?
(5) Framework elements for the first project:
- Logon
- MDI Frame
- Single Menu
- Data Query
- Data Updates
- Error Processing
- Reports
- Help
